Parents Advisory Council Mtg - Sunday, October 24, 2004 - Captain Cote's Restaurant, Augusta

Attending: Bruce Hancock, David Haines, Paul Meyer, Joe Siddiqui, Norma O'Keefe, Cathy Bowker, Nate Gardner, Ben Lofton

Follow-up of past items:

* Banners for bus-stops - Nate reported that Coke has 4 banners coming; he will get them to the 4 most populous stops (by number of students), which includes Augusta and Westbrook.

* Year Book - general discussion; options being looked at are moving to a 100% CD/DVD yearbook, but are also considering including a CD in a printed Year Book as a transitional step.

* MSSM - MSSM-PG web connection - not discussed, but both sites currently have links to the other's web sites. The link to MSSM-PG from MSSM site was done since last PAC mtg.

* Administration follow-up with parents of first-year students - Joe said he felt that he made himself well-available to all parents at Parents Weekend in Limestone, and believes all who felt the need for contact received it. He noted that there are 38 first-year students this fall.

* Proposal from Nate - re MSSM-PG financial and volunteer support for acitivities. --- Nate passed around copies of a 2-page list of activities, including a detailed budget for one event (Caribbean Chirstmas; budget totalled just over $700). Financial support was asked for for 2 events (C Christmas and "Big Event" in April - first proposed as a trip to Boston). He stated that he would like MSSM-PG to put in roughly 50% for Christmas; the level of support for the Big Event was not specified. Note: Nate's list of events is included on the MSSM-PG web site under "Student Life/Enrichment" Committee page.

Much discussion on these activites; most noteworthy was Ben's comment that a trip to Boston did not sound particularly appealing. Said students would prefer a trip to a large amusement park.

* Jerry Pieh's visit - few turned out to provide input (no specific number given), but Joe put positive spin on it as those that did all were able to spend about a half hour with Jerry, which appeared to be a useful amount of time.

* Developing contact with Alumni - Nate stated that this is a project he is assigning as a "service learning" project. Administration has contact information from alumns, but it has not been kept up to date.

Next PAC mtg - near next Board Mtg, third week in January. No specific date made.
