Greetings to new parents! Please contact us with your ideas, needs and suggestions!
An estimated fifty parents attended a general meeting of the MSSMPG on Move
In Day. Several amendments to the proposed bylaws were passed. the final version may be seen on the web site. These bylaws will go into effect at the annual meeting which will be held on Parent Teacher Conference weekend Oct. 9th.
The mission of the MSSM-PG is to:
- Enhance and enrich the MSSM academic, residential, and recreational
experience for all students.
- To help ensure a vibrant and expansive future for MSSM.
- Promote public awareness of and support for MSSM.
- Offer a forum in which MSSM parents can share and discuss information,
concerns, ideas, and proposals.
- Serve as a communication bridge between parents and the school.
Elections for the following officers will be held on Oct. 9th:
President,Vice President, Treasurer, and Chairs of two standing committees: Studentlife/Enrichment and Communications/Publicity. The present Core Group (see heading above) will act as a nomination committee to propose a slate of officers via email in advance of the annual meeting, but nominations may also be made from the floor,. We currently have two new parents volunteering for two of these positions and would welcome more. You must be a registered member and be present at the meeting in order to vote.
The next Parents Advisory Council meeting will be held via
teleconference on Tues,
Sept 21, 7pm at PBMC, Rockport Conf Rm C and at MSSM.
Agenda will be emailed to members.
Nine diverse and talented parents have signed on to an ad hoc Public
Relations Committee which Bruce Hancock has agreed to call together. It’s purpose: assisting Deb McGann with publicity and hosting of prospective parents, and planing for lobbying the next legislature in coordination with MSSM Board of Trustees Chair, Mike Edgecomb and Executive Director, Joe Siddiqui.
Next MSSM Board of Trustees Meeting: Monday, October 25 in Augusta.
